PTA President's Message  September 2016

 
Welcome back! Hope everyone had a truly fantastic summer. Every year I am amazed at how quickly the time flies. Before we know it, our beach days come to an end and it’s time to start getting the backpacks and school supplies ready. It’s never easy to get our minds focused on the school year but seeing the upcoming calendar and the newly renovated front office sure does inspire me. We have an exciting year ahead.
 

Our PTA never fails to amaze me. Overseeing a group this large is not a one woman job. Leadership is paramount to our success. Below are the members of the Executive Board that we are fortunate to have at the helm.

A PTA serves as a liaison between the parents, teachers and staff. We are a vital part of the Nut Swamp school, working together, focused on enhancing the education our children receive, and providing additional resources to enrich their learning experience. To accomplish our goals, we have several fundraisers planned:

 

· Kid Stuff Books – Each family will have the opportunity to purchase the Central New Jersey/Monmouth County edition of the Kids Stuff Book. Each book is bursting with hundreds of dollars in savings through coupons and special offers. In addition, after you buy the book, you will receive even more savings through the company’s website. The cost per each book is $25, of which Nut Swamp School will receive back $12.50

· Grocery Store Gift Card Sales – Did you know that if every family from Nut Swamp School participated in this program by purchasing at least $200 worth of gift cards each month, we would earn a minimum of $25,000 for Nut Swamp School over the course of the school year? It costs you nothing extra, yet Nut Swamp School receives back anywhere from 2%-28% depending on the gift card purchased.
 
· Spring Fundraiser - Please Join us March 24, 2017 for our largest fundraiser, funding approximately 40% of our annual PTA budget. This night is a great opportunity to socialize with Nut Swamp parents, faculty, and staff while raising money for our school! Not to mention a very good time. Our casino themed event last year was a huge success, raising over $40,000 for our children. Don’t miss out on the fun this year!
 
· School Spirit/Store - Our School Spirit committee will once again be selling apparel,water bottles, and several other items with the Nut Swamp Logo. Items can be purchased at the School Store located in the front hallway. In addition there are small school supplies available. The store is open before school, 8:45-9:00 a.m. Check the website for school store schedule.
 

The proceeds from ALL these fundraisers will help support over 40 PTA programs/committees, as well as special projects in the school. Our most recent special project includes, new benches for the playground and some exciting playground equipment additions.

 

There are so many ways you can contribute to your child’s school. Choose the one that is best for you and your family. Your participation in the PTA, whether it is attending monthly meetings or joining a committee, is a valuable addition to your child’s Nut Swamp experience. Your voice can be a part of the activities and programs the PTA supports. Please become a member of our PTA and sign up to volunteer. With your help, we will create a memorable year for all of the students, faculty and parents at Nut Swamp!

 

I believe that I speak for all of us when I say we look forward to working with Mr. Bisgrove, the staff, parents and students of Nut Swamp School. Being part of Nut Swamp Nation is a truly wonderful experience. We have such a special community that I’m so proud to be a part of.
